We are in the world of content. Everything and everywhere we see people loading us with their opinions. We would have imagined that this variance would cause surge in our perspective and knowledge — only that the contents we consume are all narrow. We each consume same amount of mainstream ideas which tightens our field of vision and holds us from seeing clearly.

So here are 3 mainstream misconceptions of ideas that holds you back.

Choose the job that you love.

Of course, you should go for it. After all, why not? But misconceptions that revolve around this topic is so destructive that might actually make you unhappy than the other way around.

First, “Everything is going to be jolly after you do the job you like”. It’s not that people aren’t willing to put in the effort but assume that the life will seem drastically different if they just are into the job they like. Second, “Not willing to sacrifice the fun part for the boring part.” Which is pretty self explanatory. If a person gets around into mindless idea of choosing the job they love, they assume that hardship is only going to revolve around their work and not other background noises.

Be yourself

It’s not the dumbest idea in the town but misunderstood. Presumption that be yourself means showing to identify and not pulling up facade of laughter when necessary is a bad presumption. Rigidly thinking about being yourself can make you less articulate to view the world and you can just turn into one big a**h**e.

This is just not it. You can also get into the trap of never growing up as a person. Do you notice those “At least I am not fake” people with attitude status on social medias? That’s be yourself gone too far and misunderstood.

Don’t be a hypocrite

How many times have you been one?

This advice is the most horrifying in the list because not only does it stop you from getting nowhere, you can get into all troubles of self doubt and never exploring world to your limits especially for those on personal endeavours.

Even on medium itself, many writers aren’t willing to give up their sense of writing style, their passion about certain portion of writing just because they want to be true to themselves which is a nice thing but it has it’s limits too.

Mainstream medias are the averaged out product of human senses. So when a person comes out in the world of mainstream media of overly done content, and filth, one can find themselves not wanting to be it and trying to find their own genuine way to make things better. Thus some tend not to do mainstream things and that selfish intent to prove and change instantaneously and not serve other people will eventually make you sad because your selfish intent is not going to work. You must find a way to serve (and be selfish too!) being a hypocrite to yourself.
